Welcome to my website. I make my guitars and other instruments one at a time using hand tools and traditional methods.
What that means, on the one hand, is that what might take seconds in a mechanised factory can take me hours. What it means, on the other hand, is that every piece of wood I use gets the full attention; deserving of part of a tree which died to become a fine musical instrument destined for the hands of a discerning player.
By working in this way, along with great concentration, skill, experience and intuition, I am able to fully bring out the musical potential of each piece of tonewood. Of course, the quality of the materials is also important, which is why I carefully source all of the woods I use, making sure that they are the best, most suitable cuts and always very well seasoned.
As I don't just consider myself just a craftsman (although guitar making does require considerable precision) but also an artist, every instrument I make is different.
I am conscious that everything I make is an expression, sometimes of an aesthetic idea, sometimes a concept, sometimes an abstract notion impossible to put into words - expressed through the medium of musical instruments.
The choice and combination of materials, the individually made rosettes and inlays, the proportions of shape and design are for me, as brush strokes are to a painter - although with the added dimension that when the painting is finished and dry, it has its own voice and you can play music on it!
If you're also one of the people who feel irresistably compelled to build guitars, but you don't know where to start - you might consider joining one of my courses.
My workshop is in Galilee, which is one of the most beautiful places in the world and worth visiting at any time of the year.
If you'd like me to build the instrument of your dreams, let me know what you've got in mind and we can take it from there.
I look forward to hearing from you.
